Lin-Manuel Miranda takes his opening night bow following the first performance of Hamilton‘s “And Peggy” tour on Friday (January 11) at the Luis A. Ferré Performing Arts Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The Tony-winning entertainer returned to the title role in the smash hit musical for the two weeks it will be in Puerto Rico.
Lin brought his dad on stage after the performance and said that was the best part of the night for him. He told reporters backstage, “No one’s worked harder than him. I really thought there was moments he was not going to survive. My dad’s worked in politics and been the most efficient guy in the room his entire career — the whole thing was a test for this. Him getting applause was the highlight of my night.”
Joining Lin on stage and at the after party were co-stars Donald Webber Jr. (Aaron Burr), Julia K. Harriman (Eliza Hamilton), Sabrina Sloan (Angelica Schuyler), Darilyn Castillo (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), Ruben J. Carbajal (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton), Isaiah Johnson (George Washington), Simon Longnight (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), and more!
The Puerto Rico production runs until January 27 and then the cast, sans Lin, moves to San Francisco.
